Martin M. Buncher, Managing Director
Martin M. Buncher is an Industrial Psychologist (USC-1963)
with over 30 years of experience as a marketing researcher and marketing consultant.
He has personally conducted over 500 secondary research
projects, 5000 focus groups, and 1500 quantitative investigations, most
of which have been ad-hoc or custom designed programs. However, to meet
client needs, he has designed, is familiar with and has appropriately recommended
and utilized many syndicated services as well, not only in the U.S., but
abroad. He has traveled extensively, conducting studies in 85 countries.
He has commonly visited South America, Europe, Japan and the South Pacific,
and occasionally parts of Africa and Asia. Mr. Buncher began his research career with Audience Studies,
Inc., (ASI), a company which specialized originally only in syndicated in-theater
advertising research. He was responsible for ASI's expansion into ad-hoc
and more expanded activities, and became West Coast Director of Projects
and Sales. Mr. Buncher then joined Creative Research Associates as Vice
President, where he focused more heavily on new technology and ad-hoc design.
In the early 1970's he joined the largest ad-hoc marketing research firm
in the country, Haug Associates. He served as their Director of International
Research and Consulting, and subsequently became Executive Vice President.
In 1977, Mr. Buncher left to form his own company, Intercontinental Marketing
Investigations, Incorporated.
In founding IMI, Mr. Buncher brought an established national
reputation as a leading qualitative specialist, having published numerous
articles and abstracts in innovative techniques and strategies, and assisting
in textbook preparation on marketing research and marketing principles.
He has been a guest professor at the University of California and San Diego
State University.
Mr. Buncher has served as Vice President and Member of
the Board of the national American Marketing Association (AMA), as well
as being similarly active in the American Psychological Association (APA)
and European Society for Marketing and Opinion Research (ESOMAR).

Larry Percy has over 25 years of advertising and marketing
experience, joining IMI a few years ago from his position as Senior Vice
President, Director of Strategic Research for Lintas: USA, one of the world's
largest agencies. In addition to managing research simultaneously in the
company's New York and Detroit offices, he designed and spear headed special
programs taking him to many other Lintas offices across the United States,
Europe and Australia.
His career began with Young and Rubicam in New York. Before
joining Lintas, he was Director of Advertising and Strategic Research for
HBM-Creamer and (as the agency turned) Della Famina in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Percy has also served over eight years on the faculty
of the University of Pittsburgh as Adjunct Professor of Marketing where
he taught marketing theory and advertising management. He also taught at
Carnegie-Mellon University, and continues to lecture at many top business
schools both in this country and abroad.
Coauthor of three major textbooks on advertising theory
(including the leading textbook worldwide on Advertising and Promotion Management),
he has contributed over 55 published papers and journal articles to the
field. He has served on the Board and as Director of the Association for
Consumer Research (ACR), and sits on the editorial board of a number of
academic journals, including the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal
of Advertising, and Psychology and Marketing. Mr. Percy has conducted numerous
executive seminars and workshops domestically and internationally relating
to advertising strategy and consumer behavior, and is frequently an invited
participant and speaker at worldwide marketing, advertising, and business
conferences.
Larry's experience spans the entire range of advertising
and marketing issues involving consumer packaged goods, durables, service,
business to business, and corporate problems. In his role as Director at
IMI Inc., he serves as the company's leading theoretician on new research
technology in addition to his specific program and project management activities.
